U11 General Info:

  • Registration opens January 1 for the current season.
  • Registration fees for U11 are $200 per player for the year.
  • Evaluations will be held for U11 to help in the creation of teams or player movement.
  • Season typically starts indoors in April and outdoors towards the end of April or the beginning of May depending on weather. Provincials are typically July 1 weekend.
  • Teams will practice on their own and have designated field and batting cage days and times.
  • The number of registrants will determine the number of teams.
  • Teams are typically all female but lower division teams may include male players.
  • Practice/Game Days: Mondays and Wednesdays at St. Pat’s in Camrose, between 5-9PM (subject to change and typically two separate team slots) and Thursdays or Sundays at the Batting Cages at Kin Park. Tournaments and league games are a possibility depending on coaches preference.
  • Equipment Required:
    • Ball glove
    • Ball cleats (no metal spikes except for U15A and above)
    • CSA or NOCSAE approved batting helmet with dual ear flaps, face mask, and chin strap
    • Personal fielding mask (required for pitching and infield)
    • Approved softball bat
    • Athletic protector (required for catcher position)
    • Water bottle
    • Ball bag, batting gloves, ball jacket for rain (recommended but these are optional)
  • At this level the focus is on developing individual skills as well as gameplay as a team. Small area games and drill stations based on Softball Canada’s Athlete Development Matrix will be used to engage each athlete and to develop the movements and techniques required to progress in softball and learn about the game. This program is progressive and challenging as the plans are based on developmental stage and skill level. This program is aligned with Softball Canada’s Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model, promoting life-long participation in recreational, competitive or high-performance softball.  This age group includes players born in 2013-2014 (9-10 years old) and is all female.

  • Parents and guardians are not permitted on the field of play or in dugouts during games or practices but may watch from the bleachers or sidelines.
